All candidates for this position are required to possess a valid certification by the State of Florida as a Correctional Officer and be in compliance with FDLE requirements.
Perform security duties maintaining order and physical custody of inmates in a jail system or courthouse complex. Responsible for the care, custody, and control of persons to include; booking and releasing offenders, maintaining security of the facility, and escorting offenders within and/or outside the secure confines of the jail.
After selection, candidates will attend 8 weeks of classroom/practical module training.

Note: Applicants must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered minimally qualified for the job.
Possession of a valid certification by the State of Florida as a Correctional Officer (Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Basic Recruit Certificate); and
Two years experience as a state, county, or city correctional officer; and
A high school diploma or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Be 21 years of age or older; and
Be a United States citizen; and
Successful completion of pre-employment testing including the Correctional Basic Abilities Test (Correctional BAT) and the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB); and
Must live in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, or Manatee County at the time of appointment.
Successful completion of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy Trainee program.
